REQUIRED QUESTIONS:
1 - Windows version used: Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit
2 - Version WampServer: Installed Version 3.2.3 64bit, also installed update 3.2.5 64bit.
3 - Apache Version: 2.4.46
4 - PHP Version: TRYING TO GET PHP VERSION 8.0.7 | Currently using 7.3.21
5 - MySQL Version: 5.7.31
5a - MariaDB version if applicable: 10.4.13
6 - What color is the WampServer icon: So GREEN it might as well be grass
PROBLEM:
- I have recently upgraded Wampserver to Version 3.2.3, since I realized it provided PHP 8 support.
- I have also updated this version to 3.2.5 so that I can use PHP version 8.0.7.
- When I watch videos online, they all have the option to change PHP Versions from a menu hierarchy on the tray: Right Click > PHP > {version}
- I have never in my life seen this option installed with Wamp. You would think this is a normal option that comes out of the box on a fresh install, but you would be wrong to think so.
- As a result, I can't change my PHP Version, as it seems this option is the ONLY way to change your PHP version on Wamp.
- NOTE: I have tried running Wamp as Administrator.
- I have also tried manually installing PHP 8, and updating the relevant information in various files. (I have also insured that I'm calling php_module and not php7_module or php8_module)
- I have also tried using the addon "PHP 8.0.7 64 bit x64" provided on wampserver.aviatechno.net, running and installing as Administrator,
WHAT I SEE:
When I right click the icon in the tray, and select Tools, I can:
- Right Click > Tools > Change PHP CLI > (all PHP versions available, including PHP 8). Selecting any option even 7.4, does not change the PHP version. I still see 7.3 on localhost.
- Right Click > Tools > [Add Apache, PHP, MySql, MariaDB, etc version]
- If I click on that option ^^^^^^^^^^ it opens a Dialog Box that basically tells me all installers are located on SourceForge..... with no information as to what I need to download, and it's not intuitive.
- So I visit this website anyway
- "Just download the installer files" it tells me... ok... but I already downloaded wampserver3.2.3_x64.exe from here, and I'm not seeing anything different.
- Further down, I'm lead to [wampserver.aviatechno.net], which is where I was (finally) able to find the 3.2.5 update that has support for PHP 8.0.7.
- Installing that Update didn't help. I still don't have access to this menu option from the tray.
- Headed back to aviatechno.net and started downloading every addon: Phpmyadmin 5.1.0, installed as Admin, still no option from the tray.
- Tried PhpSysInfo... still no option to change PHP version from right-clicking the icon in the tray.
- ALSO DOWNLOADED Checks VC++ packages installed: according to that, everything is tip top up to date!
Is there no other way to change PHP version?
